The awaited Miss world 2009 is to be conducted on December 12 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in South Africa. Contestants from all over the world participate in it and the total number of the Miss World 2009 participants is 112. The Miss world 2009 will be crowned by the 2008 Miss world Ksenia Sukhinova of Russia.

Zee TV India will telecast the Miss World 2009 show in India. The eldest one among all the contestants of Miss World 2009 is Bulgaria’s Antonia Petrova who is 25 and 180 cm tall. The Indian Miss World 2009 contestant Pooja Chopra is 24 and 173 cm tall from Pune.

There are eight countries that withdraw from Miss World 2009 due to certain reasons. They are Antigua & Barbuda, Cayman Islands, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Congo Democratic Republic, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia and Seychelles. Some of them give the reason that they don’t have enough funding and lack sponsoring for the national pageant.

Interestingly, some of the candidates were also replaced due to certain reasons. For example England’s Rachel Christie was replaced by Katrina Hodge to participate in 2009 Miss World; Germany’s Alessandra Alores was replaced in 2009 Miss World by Stefanie Peeck; Russia’s Ksenia Shipilova will replace Sofia Rudieva since there were some explicit pictures of her on the internet. Pilar Carmelita Arlando for Singapore will contest in the competition this year replacing Ris Low who was suggested and decided first and finally Uruguay’s Claudia Vanrell replaces Cinthia D’Ottone at the last minute due to her health problems. As all expect that their Miss wins the crown 2009 the Indians too expect that 2009 Indian Miss World contestant Pooja Chopra to bring to India.
